Blanket Guidelines

What size blankets do you accept?

What size blankets do you accept? This seems to be the biggest question. We haven’t turned anything away yet! For kids and teens, it’s all about the wrap around. They don’t need to be big enough to cover the whole bed, just to comfort them with a hug. The minimum sizes should be- child 30x45 and teen 45x60. The largest size shouldn’t be more than 60 x 72 unless you are making a twin size blanket for Sleep in Heavenly Peace which is roughly 70 x 90. As far as infants go, the minimum should be 28x28 to use as a car seat cover up but any size up to it becoming a child size at 30x45 will do. It’s more about the comfort a blanket brings than the perfection of its measurements. We will accept blankets smaller than 28x28 and we’ll donate them as preemie blankets or “lovies”, however the preference is at least 28x28. Also, keep in mind that our biggest need is for teen size blankets.

Do I need to wash my blanket donations?

You do not need to wash your donations unless you have trouble with animal hair or odors. We ask that your donations are as free of allergens as possible and if you are going to wash them please use detergents free of perfumes. Please store your blanket making materials away from cigarette smoke and protect them from your pets.

***Please be careful with your pins!!  When a blanket makes it into the hands of a child and still has a straight pin or safety pin in it, that turns the wow into an ow!
